Olympic Weightlifting

Olympic weightlifting is an athletic discipline in which the athlete attempts a maximum-weight single lift of a barbell loaded with weight plates. The two competition lifts are the snatch and the clean and jerk.

In comparison with other strength sports, which test limit strength, Olympic weightlifting tests aspects of human ballistic limits (explosive strength); the lifts are therefore executed faster—and with more mobility and a greater range of motion during their execution - than other strength movements. Properly executed, the snatch and the clean and jerk are both dynamic and explosive.

Weightlifting Technique Class
$200/month (Drop ins $40)

Improve your technique and strength within this course focusing on the Snatch and Clean & Jerk plus Squats, Pulls and accessory movements. Max's Gym Coaches will give you the instruction you need to improve your weightlifting. Class space is limited.

Weightlifting Foundations
$295

Weightlifting Foundations runs periodically as a 6-week course. If you’re new to any of the sports, this is a great place to start. We will teach you the basics of the Olympic lifts and improve your technique and strength in a small group setting class. This program is also great for coaches and trainers who want to learn a good system for teaching the Snatch and Clean & Jerk. Space will be limited.
